The off and on again Philippine governments war with the Communist New People's Army was in the news today. NPA activity has recently increased around the Philippines (some combat, killings and ambushes with losses on both sides), but overall the NPA is more of an annoyance than a major problem--like the NPA was in the 1980's. I was stationed at Clark in the 80's and that was no fun. Newspaper article provided an update on the Phil governments plans to continue fighting NPA until a ceasefire is renegotiated.
