China's aggressive military and economic activity in the Spratly Islands has irritated Manila, and the Aquino government is making new overtures to the U.S. for increased military cooperation on defense of the Philippines from Beijing's advances into the Spratly's. This potential for military cooperation could come in the form of increased U.S. military deployments to its old military haunts at Clark Air Base and Subic bay.
